The Location
The Punta Ala Polo Club, with its stables featuring 51 fixed boxes and the possibility to install several hundred temporary ones, boasts a regulation polo field measuring 380×140 meters. Adjacent to the field are grandstands accommodating up to 400 people, all located just 50 meters from the splendid beaches of the Tuscan coast.
The facility also includes two outdoor sand fields, one measuring 30×70 meters and the other 50×100 meters, along with a sand round pen with a diameter of 16 meters. Plans for expansion are already underway, featuring a 6-horse carousel and a covered sand arena measuring 20×40 meters, aimed at further enhancing this activity.

Punta Ala Polo Club
Punta Ala is a resort located along the Tuscan coast in the province of Grosseto. It is famous for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, and its prestigious polo club. The Punta Ala Polo Club is one of the most renowned polo clubs in Italy and hosts several polo events throughout the year.
About Us
Punta Ala has always been considered a historic venue for significant international and national equestrian competitions in the disciplines of polo and show jumping. Boasting a unique heritage, thanks to the breathtaking beauty of the Tuscan hills with their lush landscapes, Punta Ala is globally recognized as one of the most exclusive destinations in Italy.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Punta Ala field was the stage for passionate polo matches, where many notable figures had the pleasure of playing. Among the protagonists, we recall Prince Charles of England and the brothers Piero and Raimondo D’Inzeo, who participated in a remarkable eight editions of the Olympic Games.
New Scenarios
After a hiatus of 30 years, the Punta Ala field now enjoys a renewed light and ambitious goals for the future. All of this is thanks to the meticulous and passionate work of restoration by Gaia Bulgari, president of the organizing committee of the Punta Ala Polo Cup.
“The goal we set for ourselves since 2019, when we started renovating the facility, is to bring it back to its former glory,” says Gaia Bulgari.
“Knowing that a historic place for Italian polo like Punta Ala is once again hosting events is extraordinary and emotional news,” comments Alessandro Giachetti, coordinator of the polo department of FISE (Italian Equestrian Sports Federation).
Polo – it means precision, passion, and absolute trust between man and animal. This is the spirit that has driven and continues to be the driving force for those who work and believe in this splendid discipline, which is increasingly opening up to the general public and shedding the label of an “exclusive” sport.
Past Events
From September 14 to 17, 2022, the first edition of the Punta Ala Polo Cup was held, inaugurating the newly renovated field, in which four international teams competed. It was another great event added to the long series of Italian international equestrian events.
After a 30-year absence in the well-known seaside resort of Punta Ala, Polo is back as the undisputed protagonist with four days of sport and nature. Sold out, hundreds of fans and the excitement of seeing horses galloping again in this location rich in history and charm. Read press release with results of the Matches.
